lyrics

What if the next time I put my pen down
It never gets off the ground?
Not again would I ask myself why
My inspiration wells had run dry

I'd know it was the fault of my 4 colour biro
I'd know it was no fault of my own

If I'd run out of songs to sing
I'd say it was the fault of that thing
That little plastic tube with 4 barrels full of ink
And nothing to do with how I think

If my pen sprouted wings and flew away
No longer would I wait for the day

When I'd stop being able to do sums
Yeah, I'd happily sit and twiddle thumbs
Knowing that the second derivative
Was no longer my imperitive

Cause my pen flew away, across the River Tay
Yes, I'd blame the day my pen flew away

If right now a robber were to come along
No, I dont think that I'd find it wrong
If a robber came along and stole my pen from me
They might just be setting me free

If a robber came along I'd write them a song
If a robber came along I'd write them a song

If only someone hadn't stole my pen
