Never before had i seen such an angel in doc martens But she came to me in a dream and her blue cuffed jeans Long pink hair and a smile to get lost in And a badge on her lapel reading: Vote Scottish Greens Now, I grew up in the church so I know what I am saying She was a vision sent by God on a mission to save me Can of Monster in her hand, a punk rock band to sing in And a kindness for strangers in her holy trinity Girl in red records as our hymns to be played We'll have a colourful choir for our new found messiah Not a Judas to be found she could never be betrayed And unlike Peter we'll never deny her We'll never deny her all the stars in the sky Never deny her when she bakes them in a pie Yeah never deny her or ever ask her why Oh never deny her or ever tell a lie Plant-based recipes for all who obey Her scriptures, her teaching and her preaching to the choir Of love, acceptance, and intersectionality Of these commandments we'll never tire And We'll never deny her all the stars in the sky Never deny her when she bakes them in a pie Oh, never deny her or ever ask her why Yeah, never deny her or ever tell a lie The return of the carpenter will not be how they told it In Churches across the world where they preach easy lies Of capitalism bigotry and homophobia Cant wait to see their faces when she comes down from the skies And never denies us all the stars in the skies Yeah, never denies us our macaroni pie Oh never denies us or ever asks us why Yeah never denies us or ever tells a lie 'Bout what she's come here to do Or say that five is two and two She'll welcome us with open arms To all of the gay bars In the sky

They've pinned the boy of fourteen to be the next big thing in the local scene And I'm trying to get a word in about more gigs for women And the bloke sitting next to me says there's a bit of Sinead O'Connor about me Not in my looks mind, he could never be that kind But Rab up the back thinks I'm the next Billy Bragg Oh Rab up the back says i'll make Billy Bragg If I try Now he's shouting at the guy on stage "D'you know what mate You look a bit like Robert Smith but you sound like bloody piss" But Rab up the back thinks I'm the next Billy Bragg Yeah Rab up the back says i'll make Billy Bragg If I try Now Dave says he's been here going on 10 year I don't think I can face it but he thinks I might make it And Rab up the back thinks I'm the next Billy Bragg Oh Rab up the back says I'll make Billy Bragg If I try Oh Rab up the back thinks that I'm a class act

I Need a Hug 03:56
What if I go back to the person I was Before we fell in love and I faught for the cause Would I still lie awake at night? Wondering what went wrong and where was heindsight Before we were in the past And i faught to make each moment last What if I go back to the girl I used to be Before I'd grown up to really see The world I was growing to live in Before I had to work for a living See the world throught the beautiful lense Of a girl who struggles to make friends And I'll to look and search for a person to be Maybe I'll find her in the next cup of tea But I'm at the bottom of my mug And the leaves just say I need a hug I need a hug Oh, what if we go further to before I learned to talk When my brothers would carry me so I didn't have to walk And my mum would tell them off cause she knew I had to learn But I knew that I was loved and it wasn't one I had to earn And I would sleep the whole day And in my parents arms forever I would stay Not have to look and search for a person to be Maybe I'll find them in the next cup of tea But I'm at the bottom of my mug And the leaves just say I need a hug I need a hug Oh, what if we go forwards to the person I'll be In twenty years if I'm not yet swallowed by the sea Will I have settled down and built myself a life Had a few kids maybe got myself a wife See the world through an experienced eye Hopefully somewhere halfway to the day I'm gonna die Not have to look and search for a person to be Oh, maybe I'll find him in the next cup of tea But I'm at the bottom of my mug And the leaves just say I need a hug I need a hug I need a hug I need a hug

The new year's just began And we've toast it with a dram It was the hottest of this land Since our records began So they make their resolutions Saying "We don't need your solutions Cause it's your personal contributions Not our worldwide pollutants" And as each summer is our hottest And each storm our harshest As the planet and the seasons turn I wonder if they'll ever learn That this is our planet And we've got one shot at it We need the systems to change Can't you get that in your brains We've gotta work for the common need Not individual greed So they make goals they'll never meet And idolise their greed As their wallets are filled And the oil is spilled Yeah, they'll make more electric cars And sit on their arse Cause they've made this oath To economic growth So we keep working for the man Cause they all live on higher land And as the crops and the forrests burn I wonder when they'll ever learn That this is our planet And we've got one shot at it We need the systems to change Can't you get that in your brains We've gotta work for the common need Not individual greed So when our systems'll change Won't you get that in your brains We've gotta work for the common need Not individual greed

Oh, it's wee-er and dearer she mumbles to herself She's standing in the checkout oh she's tryna get some help It's wee-er and dearer to feed the kids And to live like her mum and daddy did Oh it's wee-er and dearer these days It's wee-er and dearer she says Oh, It's wee-er and dearer he does pronounce He's counting the price for ounce oh he's tryna heat the house It's wee-er and dearer to fill the car And to not even take it very far Oh it's wee-er and dearer these days It's wee-er and dearer he says Oh, it's wee-er and dearer they have to shout They counted all their pennies and they've gotta do without It's wee-er and dearer to find a flat to rent They're starting the month with all their money spent Oh it's wee-er and dearer these days It's wee-er and dearer they say Oh, it's wee-er and dearer he cries As another one of his best mates goes and dies Oh, it's wee-er and dearer to care for your health Spending years on a waiting list before topping yourself Oh it's wee-er and dearer these days Yeah, It's wee-er and dearer he says Oh it's wee-er and dearer she says Yeah, it's wee-er and dearer these days Oh it's wee-er and dearer they say Yeah, it's wee-er and dearer today Oh it's wee-er and dearer to live And to try and find any love to give Oh, It's wee-er and dearer to survive And it's wee-er and dearer to die

about

I've spent the time since The First Few Tunes focusing on enjoying the process of writing performing and then recording and it's resulted in memories and this wee EP that I'm proud of. Wee-er & Dearer = Smaller and more expensive for those of you unsure. It's just a phrase I heard a woman saying in morrisons once but it stuck with me.
